Recent Exhibition - Unity Theatre

Just a few photos from my recent exhibition in the Unity Theatre Liverpool.  In the end I exhibited nearly forty pieces of work which were displayed around the building.  Beautiful architectural features...
It's been a long time since I've done anything like this and there was a ton of things to think about and do.  Got there in the the end and apart from the odd hiccup (with couple of frames) it's been well received with loads of lovely comments from people and strangers!   Oh the relief...tis done, out of my hands and on the wall!

Berries and Birds - Green Prints

I've recently printed a four colour screen print of Berries and Birds.

All the greens as you can see and it measures just short of A3 in size.  It's printed on white Fabriano paper and also on brown paper...

There's a single colour edition (black) listed in my Folksy Shop.

Experimenting with lino printing again...

Second attempt at the lino printing, it's not as easy as it looks you know!
I used acrylic paint combined with a block printing medium.  The medium stops the acrylic from drying out and it certainly seemed to do the trick.  Apparently the ink is supposed to be rolled out on glass, not sure why that it is - something to do with texture flatness of it? I've used paper as well to get rid of some of the excess ink.

Well it's definitely getting better, but still reckon it's not quite the business yet! I'm going to try again :o

Fibreglass Fisherman

Here's a look at a new screen print I've been working on.  For now it's called Fibreglass
Fisherman and it's based on a photograph I took of a life size you guessed it fibreglass fisherman.  It was outside the fruit and veg shop where my mum lives. The waves delve into the world of renaissance ornamentation!

The picture below is nearly finished, it has one more layer to go which is going to be ripples of white waves...

Fibreglass Fisherman

I remembered to take photos!  So here are some showing the different stages and layers.

Three layers: light blue, darker blue and yellow!

Getting ready to print the dark blue colour

Here's some without the blue background

With the fish...

There's also a few printed on brown Kraft paper as well as the white Fabriano paper.  It ended up being a little bit more complicated than I had originally planned for, but hey it was a joy to print!

and finally drying on the rack!

This is a screen printed card I've recently listed in my shop.
Three colours pulled by my very own hands on recycled card. I'm lucky enough to be surrounded by trees where I live so it's only right that I should draw a few. Maybe there's a project looming in here.

Old work / New work

Tight Rope Walker
I designed the 'Tight Rope Walker' quite a few years ago and it's one that I return to over and over.  Comes in many different looks...so will be posting many different versions of this.

Underwater - Screen Print

I'm just about getting to grips with this blog site though I'm wondering how anybody's going to know about it!  I'm pretty useless with social media sites, so this is going to be something to work on I fear!
Back to what I'm up to which is posting a recent screen print called 'Underwater'

There are some splodges on the right hand corner which personally I quite like.

Blue Birds - Screen Print

There's quite a few of these birdie prints featured in my shop, they appear in purple and green as well as orange.
